5 minutes

Are you a busy person who wishes you could do more? We have a clear philosophy: start where you are and take one step forward. Choose a schedule you can keep and commit to one five minute act of resistance. It can be daily (while you wait for the coffee to perk) or weekly (during your lunch break Wednesday) or even monthly. What’s key is this: it should be a little more (or in addition to) what you’ve done.

How to do it:

Think about how you’ll find your regular five minutes. It could be tied to a thing you do regularly, or it could be scheduled on your calendar. Where will you be? At home with your hands free? Or will it be random in many locations? Do you have a regular window of wasted time, like a daily commute? Now consider the tasks you could accomplish and set a plan.

For tasks where only your mind is available (driving, folding laundry) consider phone calls, audio books, resistance podcasts, or your protest playlist.

If you will set aside 5 minutes entirely, consider tedious ongoing tasks that can be broken up, like making a physical copy of your contact list, uploading protest images to a public repository, or recording items for your did-it diary.

If you have no idea when or where you’ll have time, we have a list of tasks that can be finished in 5 minutes, or which can be worked on in 5-minute blocks. (Some will take longer to set up initially.)
