Audit your TV

Write down every radio, TV and cable source you get news or programming from. When you have a complete list, look up who owns them. If you don’t like the answers, or you don’t have much diversity, replace some of your sources.

How to do it:

Keep a notebook nearby and for the next few days, every time you watch or listen to a show, jot down where. Include YouTube channels and other alternative sources, as well as cable TV, and be detailed. If you have DISH TV or cable, you want to record that you watched ABC on KOMO, not “dish TV.”

Find out who decides what you can see. Is your local news owned by Sinclair or Nexstar? Both control local programming and lean right. Both cancelled Jimmy Kimmel to please the Trump regime. What else are you not seeing because they decided not to air it? Protests? Congressional votes? You don’t have to watch FOX news to get siloed…in fact, you have to actively work to avoid it.

What could you substitute? PBS? Independent news channels on YouTube? How can you diversify your viewing, listening or reading?
