Be Santa’s Elf

We’ve all had that last minute panic: stores are closing and we need one more gift. We’ve also all received a gift we didn’t love, but forgot to return. Do you have a dress in the closet with the tags still on it, or kid’s toys still like-new? Offer it up TODAY, to save someone’s holiday. There might be a desperate parent (or thoughtful kid) who needs a miracle.

How to do it:

Be someone’s Christmas miracle: if you have something you’ve been “meaning to sell” or planning to donate for a while, could you give it away, today only? The too-red jacket or unopened game taking up space in your house might be exactly what someone really wants. Maybe a parent trying to stretch the budget, or a kid who knows Mom goes without to put presents under the tree. If nobody claims it before Christmas, you’ll have the pictures and description you need to post it for sale afterwards: win-win!

Facebook Marketplace and Facebook groups like a local Buy Nothing or neighborhood group are the most active online sales options. If you avoid Meta, Craigslist is still around, NextDoor is an option, or consider mailing lists for resistance groups if they allow mutual-aid posts.

If you really need the money, list it for sale! A bargain might still help stretch someone’s holiday, or save the serious procrastinator, and haven’t we all been there?
