Cart Jam
Whether you’re skipping all shopping this week, or boycotting Home Depot, Target and Amazon, take it up a notch with a digital cart jam. From the organizers: “When thousands of carts sit full but never convert into purchases, it hits their KPIs, signals that something is wrong and shows that their business practices are failing their customers.”

How to do it:
The genius is in the simplicity: metrics are how stores measure success, and measuring (and reducing) “abandoned carts” is a priority for every online retailer. It’s a metric they watch.
How to participate in a cart jam, summarized:
- Go to the store of your choice
- Add items to your cart.
- Stop right before checkout
- Leave your cart full all weekend
- Screenshot your full cart and share it: Use #targethaul #amazonhaul #homedepot and #weaintbuyingit
A few additional notes: you don’t need a large number of items. To be efficient, consider adding a few high-value items and one symbolic one: an ice scraper.
