“Did it” Diary
Overwhelmed by To Do lists? Feel stuck, like you’re spinning your wheels, or not doing enough? Take stock of what you’ve done or taken steps toward by making a DID IT list.

Why we do it:
The actions any of us can do individually are small, and we may not learn their impact. It’s easy to feel like we’re not doing ‘enough’ when we can see big wins. So keep track of the myriad small steps you take, contributing towards something big : “the resistance!” When you see a win, even if it’s not something you worked on, remind yourself that your efforts where you are contribute to the defiance we’re collectively exhibiting. Your sustained action, combined with the small sustained actions of others, does matter, and will make a difference.
Ways to do it:
Option 1) Choose a container (a jar, your grandma’s favorite vase or a decorated shoebox) and every time you accomplish something, write it on a slip of paper and drop it in. When you need motivation, pull a few slips out to read. For extra fun, open your jar with friends on NYE and play resistance bingo.
Option 2) Use an inexpensive notebook to record actions you’ve taken (no matter how small!) to resist, learn, become more civically engaged, and build a better community and democracy. Include things you were nervous about six months ago, but do regularly now! Add to it regularly. Review it anytime you need a boost.
If you engage in risky activities, use a code, or just draw a flower on that slip of paper. You know the things you’ve done, you just need to be reminded occasionally.
If you’re comfortable doing it, share some of your ongoing actions and accomplishments more widely (e.g. on social media) to help inspire others, or invite friends to join you in keeping a “did it” diary.
