East Wing
Our nation’s capital building stands in ruins, a physical symbol of the existential crisis American Democracy faces. Trump tore the East Wing down over a long weekend, without permits or permission. It’s gone. Courts have ordered him to follow due process for any renovation, so like so much, we face a choice. There’s no way back, but our voice matters in what gets built where our history once stood.

How to do it:
Leave a public comment about the “East Wing Modernization Project” through March 4th, 2026. Here is a sample comment you can use or edit:
I was horrified by pictures of the East Wing in wreckage. Trump broke every promise he’d made and razed American history for a vanity project that didn’t stand up to even cursory architectural or historic review. Trump should not be involved in the effort to repair his damage. A team of historians and architects specializing in historic preservation and monuments should decide what the East Wing space will become. This team should be composed with at least 20% Black members, with at least one member with expertise in the history of skilled slave labor in this nation, and White House construction in particular. Whatever they build should stand as a monument to the true history of our nation, and the diversity of excellence under imperfect but aspirational democracy.
