Insurrection Day

On January 6th Donald Trump rallied his irregulars to steal an American election. When we failed to jail him, and instead put him back in power, he pardoned 1600 people convicted of serious crimes that day. In 2026 some of them plan to march on DC in celebration, so we counter with an American Guy Fawkes Night. Starting this year, make January 6th the day you focus on resistance.

How to do it:

There are small protests around the country, but a Tuesday in January isn’t a safe time to gather tens of thousands. In many areas Tuesday is Bridge Protest day, so check Mobilize for a visible action near you. Use the filter to add the date and your location and see what you can join!

If protests aren’t your jam, that’s okay! Spend an hour in some form of resistance. (Browse the site for ideas!) Or start a community event — we have friends who host a V for Vendetta watching annually. Just do something to mark the day an insurrection failed and nobody was punished. Make sure our grandchildren remember that day.
