It’s a Wonderful Life
This Christmas classic is also just a great movie about capitalism, class warfare, and struggling to see the effect you have on the world. If you haven’t watched it in years, give it a chance!
For a more modern take on community-building, we recommend Klaus, a delightful animated origin-story about Santa, featuring indigenous Scandinavian Sámi characters.

Why we do it:
Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there’s a good chance you’ll be setting the family down in front of a movie soon. Why not choose something thematic with a moral? Revisit old classics like It’s a Wonderful Life to sneak in a moral reminder to even the most MAGA-minded relative, or to remind yourself that you might not feel like what you do matters, but it does.
Scrooged, is a nice agnostic update on a time-worn classic, and it’s hard to go wrong with Bill Murray as the beleaguered money-first man who has forgotten what really matters.
Or try out new classic Klaus, a religion-free Santa origin story with gorgeous artwork set in a fictional remote Scandinavian town and featuring indigenous Sámi characters. It’s an ode to the importance of the post office, too!
