Keep Calm…
Staying informed but calm is a trick these days. To avoid disconnecting or shutting down with overwhelm, curate your news sources regularly. Do you have reliable, steady voices that use rational, calm language? Raise the volume on those, while minimizing ones that leave you feeling so panicked you can’t act.

How to do it:
Watch the people in your feed, and add voices that give you reliable, rational information. Some feeds are great 90% of the time, but panic periodically — think through whether the balance works for you. Build a knowledge ecosystem that keeps you informed without panic. Here are three of my go-to’s.
Heather Cox Richardson needs no introduction. Follow her writing for near-daily write-ups that put current events in historic context while summarizing the day well. Tune in to her video for uplifting and encouraging exchanges.
Rebecca Solnit is a reliable source of encouragement and hope. She writes from an environmental and progressive perspective, focused on big picture human issues.
Jay Kuo has a background in legal analysis and entertainment. He is a good source for posts that are realistic but rational. He generally has a positive viewpoint, but sometimes shows his own fears. He is a go-to for everyday explanations of legal topics.
