Patron of Protest

Are you a tired older person with art skills, an introvert with more money than energy, or just…protests aren’t your thing?

Support someone who has more energy than money, more messages than artistic talent, or just needs a ride. Or donate to a group that’s organizing busses to get people to protests.

How to do it:

While the protests have been very safe so far, and include dogs, kids and people with walkers, this may not always be true, and there are valid reasons for not showing up in person. There are other ways to support protests without standing out there with a sign. Here are a few:

  • Many groups are organizing busses to big protests. Sponsor a seat for someone low-income.
  • Or slip a friend $20 for parking and thank them for representing you.
  • Help get your message out: donate supplies to a sign-making party, or throw one, even if you aren’t going!
  • If you’re artistic, offer your sign-making help.
  • Be a taxi for friends who want to go. While you’re there, drive around the protest a few times honking encouragingly. It really helps!
  • Get t-shirts or bling to signal support and wear them the day of the protest.
  • Day-of, spend time online looking for businesses that are actively supporting the protest and make a list. Later, visit those businesses and tell them how you found them.
  • Donate directly to the group hosting your local protest. Permits and porta-potties add up!
