Schedule Resistance

Important things go on the calendar, so remember to add protest dates, voting deadlines, community meetings or free museum days on your calendar!

Make time for what matters! Add it to your calendar right now.

How to do it:

Electoral Dates

  • On the last day online registrations are allowed, check that your registration hasn’t been purged
  • Include every special election and primary—they have low turnout but high value
  • if you want to engage in electoral activism, like door knocking or writing postcards, include those dates too.
  • Schedule everything through the 2026 primary, and add a to-do to re-fill the calendar after it

You can find useful links and information for your state at Vote.org. You can even sign up for a voting reminder service, if you don’t mind a few extra texts.

Activism

  • Add protest dates the way you would any other commitment. If you worry about privacy, create a code, like “walking with Suzy.”
  • Look for trainings and schedule time for them. We’re all learning as we go.
  • If you’re looking for a group to join or a place to volunteer, treat it like dating: rarely as much fun as we think it’s going to be, but with a mission. Schedule time for it.
  • Block out time for postcard writing, reading a favorite Substack, or whatever quiet activity keeps you motivated
  • If you’re all out of ideas, add a once-a-week item to check this web site for inspiration

Resilience

Don’t forget to schedule things you need to do for yourself. From re-organizing the hall closet to store extra supplies, to finally getting your passport, take time to make sure you’re able to keep fighting.

Resistance takes time and energy. It’s a marathon, so pace yourself. Decide how much time you can spend each week, and then make sure you actually get to take that time.
