Public Funding

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was defunded and is now shutting down to avoid being mis-used. This leaves PBS, NPR, and hundreds of local radio and tv stations in our hands. We support them, or they close.

How to do it:

Tune in: there’s no point having public broadcasting if we don’t watch it! PBS has a free app you can watch most programming through, or for a small monthly donation get “PBS Passport” to put your streaming budget to work for free press!

Social support: follow your station online and share their stories. Comment and interact to boost their relevance. Become a part of their active community, and get to know their offerings. Thank advertisers for choosing to spend their money with PBS. Let them know you noticed.

Donations: set up recurring or one-time donations any time, or donate during pledge drives to get cool bling. Volunteers are also often needed for pledge drives.

NPR also has some fun gear to flag your support. Hubby got a retro sweatshirt for the holidays and it’s the softest ever!
