Visibility Brigade
Have you seen folks over freeways, waving flags and holding giant signs? Have you thought “that’s something I could do!” but you weren’t sure how?
The Visibility Brigade has created a detailed manual. Find a few friends and get out there! Go have coffee afterwards and talk about the state of the world. This is organizing!
How to do it:
Resistance begins with awareness. The first step to joining the resistance is realizing you aren’t the only person who thinks things shouldn’t be this way, and that means visibility. Sometimes it means performance: simply seeing others engaged can be the connection new folks need.
The Visibility Brigade found a unique way to brand resistance as common, natural, and neighborly. Without the funds for billboards, they create a similar impact. Without the permits big protests require they get people activated. Risks are relatively low, but rewards are high.
