Hi! I’m Shasta

I’m the public face of Simple Resistance.

In college I learned that activism is built out of small, individual actions, time-consuming logistics, and personal connections.

Most activism is mundane: it’s ordering porta potties for a big rally, or digging into corporate ownership to identify boycott targets. It’s driving people to events, or standing up at the school board meeting. It’s taking hundreds of quick ideas and fleshing them out into a web site. From protests of five million to a few dozen loud neighbors chasing ICE away, activism looks spontaneous, but it takes preparation and training.

After the inauguration, I realized not everyone was a loud, queer, Jewish environmental activist in college. Too many of us are waiting for someone to tell us what to do. My friends would tell you I’m not shy about that either.

I began posting three simple acts of resistance. I post them every day, choosing from current events, picking a theme, or sharing ideas gleaned from friends. We are stronger together! This site features the most durable of those ideas. Ephemeral ones glimmer briefly on my social media feeds. You’re welcome to follow there, too: Facebook, Bluesky and Substack.

Not everyone has the same calculus about visibility that I do. From activists who inspire daily tasks, to folks working diligently behind the scenes, this site is a collaborative effort.

This is how activism works: all of us, together, doing what we can.
