Digital Defense Fund
The DDF provides digital privacy assistance to progressive organizations. They offer trainings, materials for you to train others, and also organize technical specialists who are willing to volunteer time to organizations they support. They are the only organization we’re aware of currently doing this direct hands-on work to help organizations meet unique modern technical challenges.

How we do it:
The Digital Defense Fund began in 2017 to protect abortion access as state limits spread under the first Trump regime. Founded by people with direct experience in protecting abortion access, trans rights, disability rights, and harm reduction, Digital Defense Fund won a 2022 Digital Freedom award from the OG of online privacy, the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Its mission is to help organizations stay safer through training and hands-on support. It also provides (editable on request) slide decks to support broader educational efforts.
If you are a member of an organization that could benefit from a safety review, training or other services, contact DDF and inquire. For smaller organizations interested in training on specific topics, their slide decks are available for self-guided training. You may already have a volunteer with the knowledge, who just needs some supporting materials.
If you are a tech worker, consider volunteering. From leading trainings to getting involved in software projects to build tools for organizers, there’s a place for everyone.
To support these services, donate funds.
