Shift your spending from massive corporations to smaller, more local, or better companies. Replace a Sinclair station with PBS, or buy from bookshop.org instead of Amazon.
How to do it:
One of the most effective ways to shift our spending power is through shifting our entertainment budget. Here are some options:
- Amazon Physical Books → bookshop.org, Powell’s Books or a local bookstore
- Kindle books → Libby for libraries or Project Gutenberg
- Sinclair, Prime, etc. → PBS Passport
- Spotify → Tidal, Bandcamp
Or replace mass-produced media entirely. Go to film festivals, local concerts, open-mic nights, etc.
