Half-Ass It
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing poorly! Go to the protest without a sign – you still count. Call your Senator and rant at the machine. Donate $5 when you can. Replace some of your Amazon purchases with local stores. If reading a history book is overwhelming, listen to inspiring fiction. Embrace the power of doing something, and together it will be enough.

How to do it:
If you look at resistance as a win/lose game, it’s always going to read “lose.” You’re one person fighting a massive systemic malignancy. That system is actually made up of tens of thousands of individual problems, though. They close libraries, we save data! They defund PBS, we subscribe. They spread lies, we spread truth. It feels like we face a monolithic obstacle that one person can’t tackle, but really it’s a tug of war between all of their actions, and all of our actions.
So whatever you haven’t been doing, because it doesn’t feel good enough, go do whatever portion of it you can. Do it poorly. Do it imperfectly. Learn from your mistakes and stand back up to do one more imperfect, insufficient thing.
Together, we can be just as implacable a force for good as they are for ill. Just do your small part, to the best of your ability, and it’ll come together!
