Today we build relationships and resources for targeted neighbors. Whether you have “a guy” who does the yard, or a roofing crew coming in, day-labor professions are being targeted and citizenship is ignored in ICE sweeps. Today we prepare: give some thought to your resources and connections and what you can do to be ready if and when a vulnerable neighbor needs refuge.
Buy lunch for a friend or coworker who is demographically (age, race, class, etc.) different from you. Ask them how they’re doing, and really listen to what they say.
Don’t dive directly into politics. Just build the relationship naturally, one lunch at a time.
