Most of these bills rely on fear-mongering and misleading language, because the truth wouldn’t win. Once you have the facts in hand, call local politicians and tell them how you feel. Tell friends and neighbors, too.

It’s time we reclaim the image of America as inclusive and constantly striving for greater fairness and justice. Think protests are performative? Of course they are! It’s important to show the world your values! It’s also important to back that with action, so if you aren’t already involved in a group that suits you, find one today. If you go to a protest, look for information/booths/talk to people. If you don’t, Indivisible is a good default starting point. They’re in most areas, committedly non-violent, and you’ll learn what’s going on as you meet people. Indivisible isn’t everyone’s last stop in activism, but it’s a good first step.
