Use window paints to decorate your car with GOTV messages, or local election information. Remind people to check registration, tell people when deadlines are coming up, or promote a candidate you like. Put voting in everyone’s view!
Time Banking!
The idea is simple: trade favors, collectively. Maybe you’re great with taxes, and Julie needs help. You need someone to clean the gutters, but Julie can’t climb ladders. With a time bank you help Julie…and Jim and Joe, then David helps you. He’s happy to do it. Julie, the registered nurse, was a lifesaver after his wife’s surgery!
Stop the Bleed
One of the most useful first-aid skills to learn, according to every medical professional we talked to, is how to stop bleeding. Stop the Bleed exists to teach you how to save a live. You can take an in-person or online class to learn basic skills that are useful in a crisis.
Out and Proud!
Coming out works for any issue that “nice people don’t talk about.” The problem is, jerks DO talk about those things, making it feel like there’s a consensus of bad opinion. Talking about your experiences changes that. Whether it’s telling your uncle that nice girls get raped, too, or telling Grandma that immigrants are cutting her lawn, not her health benefits, speak up!

Missing protest energy in the run-up to the elections? Create a spectacle and educate people with signs about registration deadlines, USPS issues, or even a specific candidate you support.

Politics matter
Elections matter, or we wouldn’t face fascism. Talk about how political decisions affect daily life. Avoid idealism or quick-fixes. It took years to build to this regime, and the midterms won’t fix much, but if we lose them, fascism may be entrenched for decades. Fight cynicism and make engagement cool again.
