Build a pool of friends you can talk things over with. Take turns processing, start a book club, or just check in once a month over wine. If you don’t know who to ask, start with lunch with someone you suspect has similar values. Build from there. We all need community we can be ourselves with, so actively work to build yours.
Do you send physical thank you cards? Whenever you’re writing one, send a spare to a politician or activist who has done things you’re grateful for this year. Use up leftover holiday cards or pick up clearance Valentines Day cards. Everyone loves some appreciation!

Center those values! Have dinner at an ethnic restaurant from a place they’ve always wanted to travel, or make a nice dinner at home and donate what you would have spent to their favorite charity.

Look for the achilles heel in your own beliefs, and learn more!
