Black Americans in the civil rights movement had less power than white Americans facing fascism today. They built on the tools they had, building power judiciously, and changed our nation. If you’re struggling for hope, study Civil Rights history. People have won progress with less power than we still have.
Do you run a mutual-aid or community-building space? With school out, lots of families have to make food stretch further, so set up a snack stop. Free fruit for kids, or “take one, leave one” for staff and visitors. Make it feel like the most normal thing to grab a granola bar because it’s convenient.
