So many problems go back to corporate power. Fixing things instead of replacing them takes back control. Many areas have fix-it events now, where people with skills and tools make themselves available for everything from patching clothes to soldering connections. Step off the commercial treadmill with community aid!
Goodwill is convenient, but commercial, and religious charities may discriminate in distribution efforts. What to do? Most areas have at least a few thrift stores designed to benefit a specific target cause: DV victims or immigrants or animals. Some stores specialize in specific goods. Research local options and take another step away from commercialism!
