Fascism relies on fear to control. To sow sufficient fear, they threaten people with inhumane treatment or death. They can’t start with everyone, though, or they’d be overthrown immediately. Instead they choose groups the general public already harbors doubts about. They whip up latent fears about communities already occupying the fringes of society until they can treat them as sub-human…then they expand the target groups. Fight back by rooting out dehumanizing language anywhere you find it.
