Rebuild word of mouth with a little neighborhood center hosting curated news. This project takes a bit of time, so get neighbors involved!

Tens of thousands of children face a dismal holiday season, all because our nation has decided nobody is innocent enough to evade detention. All too many of those detainees are children themselves. Buy a gift or donate cash to an immigration group buying gifts for children in detention, or left behind. Check with local immigration groups first. If you don’t find a program, we recommend Americans for Immigrant Justice, rated four stars by Charity Navigator.

Politics matter

We need to replace this government with another one as quickly as possible. Elections matter. If they didn’t, nothing much would have changed this year. While the right voted every local election, the left fell into cynical ennui, too cool for coarse, imperfect politics. We have less than a year to change that narrative: start talking about why politics matters. Set realistic expectations and avoid engaging in idealism. Shift your spending from massive corporations to small artists, local venues, or better companies. Replace a Sinclair station with PBS, or buy from bookshop.org instead of Amazon. Dump Spotify and buy CDs direct from the artists. Go to local concerts and arts festivals.
