Tens of thousands of children face a dismal holiday season, all because our nation has decided nobody is innocent enough to evade detention. All too many of those detainees are children themselves. Buy a gift or donate cash to an immigration group buying gifts for children in detention, or left behind. Check with local immigration groups first. Get cash-back at the grocery and spend it with a small vendor this weekend. Buy a pastry and tip cash, or pick up a gift at a craft fair, using cash. Small businesses are hit extra hard by credit card fees, so carry cash and use it wherever vendors prefer it.
